OUR 10 POINT CHECKLIST
You’ll receive on your check up
At County Road Dental Practice, your smile is our priority — and that starts with a thorough, caring approach to your dental health. During your check-up, our experienced dentists carry out a 10-point dental health check to make sure everything is in great shape and to catch any potential issues early.
Medical Check
Your overall health can have a big impact on your mouth — and vice versa. We’ll ask about any medications you’re taking and medical conditions you may have. This helps us ensure that any treatment we provide is both safe and suitable for you.
Lifestyle Risks
We’ll chat with you about lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol use, and stress, all of which can influence your dental health. Don’t worry — it’s a judgment-free conversation designed to help us give you the best possible care.
Oral Hygiene Routine
We’ll ask about your brushing and flossing habits to get a picture of your day-to-day oral care. If needed, we’ll offer tips and advice to help keep your mouth as clean and healthy as possible
Diet
What you eat (and how often) can affect your teeth more than you might think. We’ll talk about your diet and give advice on any changes that could help protect your teeth from decay and erosion.
Head and Neck Examination
We’ll gently examine the outside of your face, head, and neck to check for any lumps, swellings, or other signs that may need further investigation.
Jaw Joint Check
If you’ve ever had issues with jaw clicking, pain, or stiffness, this step is important. We’ll assess how your jaw joints (also known as the TMJ) are working to spot any problems early on.
Soft Tissue Check
This includes checking your tongue, cheeks, the roof and floor of your mouth, and lips. We’re looking out for any abnormalities, such as ulcers or white patches, and carrying out a routine oral cancer screening.
Teeth and Restorations
We’ll examine each tooth individually, as well as any fillings, crowns, or other restorations, to make sure they’re all in good condition and functioning well.
Gum Health
Healthy gums are essential to a healthy mouth. We’ll assess for signs of gum disease, such as bleeding, inflammation, or gum recession, and provide advice or treatment if necessary.
Investigations
If needed, we’ll recommend further checks such as X-rays or digital scans. These help us look beneath the surface to spot issues that might not be visible during the examination — like decay between the teeth or bone loss.
